Paint Correction on a 2005 Subaru Forrester

This Subaru which was recently purchased came in for a detail.  After talking w the customer we decided on doing a paint correction, tinting the windows & polishing out the headlights.  When it came in this is the condition we were up against.

So we started with a wash to remove old wax and dirt then followed up with a decon process which removed embedded dirt off the paint.

This clay is supposed to be white, however it removed a lot of contaminants that wouldn’t come off with normal washing.  As soon as we brought the car in we started with the window tinting first.  Here we are installing SunTek Carbon XP window film.  This film is a carbon based window film with signal enabling capabilities, it has a lifetime warranty against cracking, peeling & fading.  Before anyone asks the window film does not go on the outside, the film on the outside is heated to shrink so it can form to the glass.  Then its applied to the inside of the glass.Subaru Forrester

After the window tint was finished we moved on to polishing the paint.  Here’s what we started with and some of the progress on it.

Here is a shot after our first polishing step.  Keep in mind that this is not the finished result.   Once we got to this point we pulled it out to the sun to check what it looked like in natural light.Subaru Forresteralthough the improvement was what were looking for there are still some defects that were too deep to remove.  But the overall appearance of the vehicle will be swirl free.  keep in mind we take extra caution to not over do the paint correction process, so sometimes knowing when to stop can be better than burning through the paint.   so we continued on to the door and tried the same process.

so we finished the paint and sealed it up then moved on to the headlights.

These headlights are hazy & had been refinished before but still went back to being dull again.  So we did our headlight restoration process to it.  So we started sanding & finished polishing  & this is a 50/50 shot of the headlight.

Here’s the headlight finished. I know its this light is from the drivers side but both lights were sanded and polished and coated w Opti Lens coating.

Once we finished the lights, tinting the windows & polishing the car we pulled it out into the sun to take some better pics. Subaru ForresterSubaru Forrester

These were the best shots we could get before the customer picked up his car.   Id say the results speak for themselves.  For an 2005 this thing looks better than new, and this is why we are San Antonio’s Paint Correction Specialist!
