We love the grey color on this new C7 Corvette Z06 because it makes the car look even more menacing. This owner brought us this beauty to both protect it and add to the mean looks. The first step was to fully prep the vehicle for a full front end application of paint protection. While many shops install paint protection films, what happens before the first piece is ever applied might be some of the most important steps.
The team at Jay’s Detail begin with a thorough cleaning of the vehicle to remove all loose contaminants. We follow this with a clay bar of all painted surfaces. Clay bar removes all paint contaminants that are adhered or attached in such a way that a normal wash will not remove them. Often a car looks clean visually, but the underside of the clay bar after treatment tells another story. Check out the backside of this clay bar after a “clean” car was properly prepped. Why would you want to seal all of that dirt between the vehicle’s paint and the paint protection film. You wouldn’t, and that is why the prep is so important.
Now We Can Start Installing!
We remove vents and trim so that we can install the film in such a way that you will not see any seams. Here, you can see that we are fitting a custom front fender piece with the trim remove. After install, the trim is replaced and it is hard to tell that anything is even in place protecting the film. Below, we move on to the hood and bumper.
Now We Move on to the Preservation Phase
After the clear bra is finished being installed, we applied Cquartz to the entire vehicle including the rims. This requires us to remove the wheels to treat both the inside and the outside of the rim. Again, this is what separates the top end jobs from the discount work. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you ask about pricing. You can see that the results after the preservation leave the car’s painted surfaces looking stunning.
Now to Make it a Bit More Mean
When we have preserved all the painted surfaces, we finalize the job with an application of window tint. This will not only keep the car cooler on a hot Summer day, but it protects the interior surfaces from sun damage. As a bonus, the car also looks a whole lot better too! Take a look at the final results and see for yourself how great a fully treated car can look.
