Poor Camaro Suffers from a Paint Correction Gone Wrong

Poor Camaro Suffers from a Paint Correction Gone Wrong

You know the saying “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”? Well, the owner of this Chevy Camaro can certainly relate to that. The owner had taken the car to another shop in an attempt to have a paint stain removed via paint correction. Instead of repairing the vehicle with a proper 2-step process, the shop ended up causing more paint damage by using improper sanding techniques and correction procedures. After they failed to produce a satisfactory result, the vehicle came to Jay’s Detail to have a proper paint correction and paint coating done.

This was going to be a significant project, so we started by giving the car a good sack and decontamination. This allows us to truly evaluate what damage exists and come up with a suitable strategy to correct the damage.

The cleaning and decontamination shows significant paint damage throughout the vehicle. In the next pictures you can see the extent of the damage to the paint finish and how it looked after we corrected it. The paint was scratched and dull across every panel as you can see in the picture below.

The picture below shows a 50/50 of the correction on the rear trunk.

You can see from the After pictures above and the picture below that the paint was near perfect when we were finished with the correction.

After the paint correction is complete, we protect the the newly perfected surface by applying our CQuartz Ceramic Paint Coating treatment. We also finished off the entire project by tinting the windows with our Rayno S5 Carbon Ceramic window film. The picture below shows the paint after the CQuartz Ceramic Paint Coating is applied.

After application of the CQuartz Ceramic Paint Coating, it must go through an infra-red curing process to give it full strength to protect the finish from future damage.

One last show to show you how great this car turned out!

We see what we illustrated above way too often. Just because a shop owns a buffer and some compound does not qualify them to correct your paint. Often, we end up having to fix other shops mistakes, if we even can. Sometimes the damage is too great, that we cannot even recover the finish. Don’t let this happen to you.
